Grape Statistics 0.2 Alpha4 Released
On June 22nd, 2008
Since the first Grape 0.2 alpha release, we've sneaked in three updates. The fourth alpha release was recently released on available on the
Grape project page
. We are aware of a rare security vulnerability with Grape that hopefully now be fixed. If your server is vulnerable, Grape will notify you of the potential problem at the least. And for the rest of us, this issue has never been a problem. I am happy to say that since the Grape code has been scrutinized by a third party, only that one vulnerability has been found.
Grape has proven to be quite stable over the last few months. More extensions are being developed and if all goes well, they will be integrated with the next Grape release.
Grape Statistics 0.2 First Alpha Released
On March 27th, 2008
It took many hours of planning and programming to finally push out the first
Grape 0.2 alpha release
. Grape Statistics, if you don't know already, is an open source PHP program that tracks visitors. The testing has been very limited, so try it out! (Report bugs on
our forums
.)
Edit: An update has been released that fixes an ip bug, as well as crosses off a few more things from our todo list.
QuateCMS 0.3.4 Released
On February 23rd, 2008
The
QuateCMS 0.3.4
has been released. It's been slightly over a year since the last QuateCMS update. This version fixes the page permissions system, as well as support for multilingual websites that need translation pages. Updating to this version is recommended, especially if you were having any problems with the previous version.
Work, Work, and Work
On February 10th, 2008
I've been extraordinarily busy, but I managed to squeeze in some time to work on a minor update to the QuateCMS 0.3.x series. This upcoming release fixes a few bugs, and introduces a new Multilingual feature. This was requested by
ExtremeTuxRacer
, as they get a lot of traffic from many countries. If all goes well, the release should be done in a month or two.
A New Web Statistics Program
On January 17th, 2008
Codename "Grape 0.2" is a web statistics program I have been working on recently to ultimately offer the functionality of a similar paid program such as
Mint
. Grape 0.2, like it's predecessor, is an free, open source program. Version 0.2 marks some significant changes to how visitors are recorded and how the these results are then displayed to be as accurate as possible. The previous version only tracked results according to the month, which presents problems if you want the number of unique hits per day. It also had no ability to view previous months. Grape 0.2 gives the ability to view more accurate stats for an hour, day, month, or year. The program will be offered in the form of a standalone version.
There has been no set release date yet. If all goes well, an alpha version will be publicly released by the end of the month. (I am also working in parallel with the QuateCMS 0.4 and two other projects.)
Paranormal Deathmatch Source Code
On December 4th, 2007
Paranormal Deathmatch, while not Quate's, is a very interesting game. When it died, the author gave out the source code. Today the source code is virtually unfindable. After doing a lot of searching and contacting people, I finally received the source code, downloadable at our
Paranormal Deathmatch page
, in case anyone was looking for it. (I know there are people who want it, so I hope search engines pick up this.) Unfortunately I am unsure if the files are the original files. If anyone has an alternative or better copy of the source code, post them on our
forums
.
We're not dead, just lazy
On September 26th, 2007
I myself, have been working with the
Extreme Tux Racer
project, and have been very busy with school work. I've gotten a little bit done on the 0.4 on the QuateCMS. I've also been passively working on a bugfix release for the 0.3.x series. If anyone has found any bugs in the CMS, please report them to our
forums
so that they can be fixed for the 0.3.4 bug fix release, whenever that may be.
Insert lame title here
On July 19th, 2007
Since the last update, I've been working on a few things. The first of which is a LAN manager, called qLAN. I never finished it, but it has given me a lot of insight on how the next version of the QuateCMS will function, as we are currently recoding it.
I've more or less finished another program I call GroupChat. It's a combination between a forum and a chat system. All messages save, and even if you just joined the group chat, you can view what people typed while you were gone... can be very useful for us developers. When we're finished with the QuateCMS 0.4, I may make GroupChat into an extension for the CMS, as well as a standalone application like I did with the
filemanager
.
Summer of Code?
On May 29th, 2007
This site needed a news update. I can't say much right now. Other than that we're currently really busy, we have a few ideas/plans. In ~14 days I'll [hopefully] update you all on what's to come.
Update: We're still not sure about things, but it seems that there will eventually be a QuateCMS 0.4. I, myself, have done some planning and concept programming, but no true programming progress has been made. Additionally, I've been working on a few other projects, so we'll see what happens with them.
Quate server transfer done - QuateCMS download now works
On April 22nd, 2007
We have finished transferring Quate to a new server. QuateCMS downloads weren't working, but now they do work. So download the QuateCMS.
The QuateCMS demo sandbox will be up sometime soon.
March News Update
On March 22nd, 2007
In the next week, we will be moving Quate.net to a new server. During this time there is a chance that Quate.net will be temporarily down. We may also do a few updates to the website. For example, the Quate CMS sandbox (online demo) is running an old development version of the QuateCMS, and needs to be updated, then modified as a sandbox.
As for news about the QuateCMS, we are currently in the planning phase for the next big version, which may consist primarily of recreating CMS for a number of reasons. If anyone has any ideas they'd like to share, post suggestions at our
our forums
. (I check them almost every day, despite inactivity.)
Quate CMS 0.3.3 Released - Fix to all your worries (hopefully)
On February 16th, 2007
We've hopefully got a working release now. New extension called Grape that tracks information about how many visitors have been visiting your site, etc.
Get more information / download the QuateCMS
.
If you encounter any problems, please post on
our forums
. We will gladly help. Thanks.
Quate CMS 0.3.2 Released
On February 5th, 2007
I had been secretly adding some fixes to 0.3.1, but forgot a few things in the process. 0.3.1 fixes a few bugs, including that notice about 0.3.1 being a development version. If the QuateCMS was giving you trouble before, try this release.
As always, if you encounter any problems, please post on
our forums
.
Quate CMS 0.3.1 Released
On January 2nd, 2007
It's finally here,
the QuateCMS 0.3.1 has just been released
. The
demo site
has not been updated yet, so you'll just have to download it and try it yourself.

Soon: Quate CMS 0.3.1 Winter Update
On December 18th, 2006
If all goes well, we will release a new version of the QuateCMS within a month. Quite a few changes have been made. Right now, we need to do some further testing and security audits. (If you're willing to help us security audit, please post on our
forums
. It would be greatly appreciated.)
Quate CMS Update Plans
On November 20th, 2006
We're constantly busy, and the other's haven't had the time to work on the CMS, though we've talked about it a little. I've been getting a little bit of programming done, working primarily on a full fledged blog system extension. There is still a lot of work to be done with the blogs, and with the CMS. We will also be doing extensive auditing the CMS for security issues, and stress testing the CMS.
We're looking for people to help us do security audits and create extensions. If you're willing to, please post on our
forums
. It would be greatly appreciated.
An Update for October
On October 15th, 2006
We've all been busy in the last few weeks, and will continue to be busy. Which explains for some of the inactivity lately at Quate. Regardless, a few things have been rolled out this month, including a Portable Scribus update, a RSSOwl update, an a development release for the QuateCMS 0.3.1.
We're always looking for more support. If you like what we do, consider posting on our
forums
, giving us feedback, and talking with other users. Perhaps put a link to us on your website. Anything helps.
Quate Filemanager
On September 10th, 2006
Due to some server issues, I was unable to upload the new Quate Filemanager, which is currently used in the QuateCMS 0.3. This version, however, is the standalone version, and is improved from the one that's currently in the QuateCMS. For one, it supports uploading. See the
Filemanager project page
.
QuateCMS version 0.3.1 and 0.4
On September 3rd, 2006
It's been almost two months since the last QuateCMS news. So I thought I'd inform you on what's going on. We're still in the planning phase of the next big release: version 0.4. Quate members will soon have a meeting about 0.4. In the meantime, we've been working on 0.3.1, which improves the 0.3 series in terms of security and bug. I don't have any release dates for you, so you'll just have to check back every once and awhile.
New Tutorial: Single Image CSS Layouts
On August 5th, 2006
I've just spent many more hours than I would have liked to on an article, but I thought it would be helpful for many. It's a complete tutorial on the how and why of using a single combination image instead of using several images for a layout.
Check it out.
After all that effort I thought I might submit it to
digg
, so if you're a digg user, feel free to
digg it
.
MenuGen Released!
On July 10th, 2006
MenuGen, an extension to create CSS menus for the Quate CMS has been released. It can be downloaded
here
. This extension also includes Chris' Categories extension which is required to be installed for MenuGen to function.
Quate CMS 0.3 - Finally Released!
On July 3rd, 2006
After two release candidates, and half a year of work, we've released the Quate CMS 0.3, a free, fast, and simple Content Management System. Feel free to try the
demo
. More information about the CMS can be found
here
.
Quate CMS 0.3 Release Candidate 2 - Released!
On June 1st, 2006
We decided we'd have at least one more release candidate before releasing the 0.3 final version. Release Candidate 2 fixes some bugs from RC1, and makes some other improvements, making it more stable than RC1. We recommend newcomers to try it out, and current users to download and upgrade to the latest version.
New Clean Layout
I was working on some alternative layouts for the Quate CMS when I decided to use one of the layouts to replace Quate's old layout. The layout loads almost twice as fast, less than 1 second for full 56kb dailup users when first viewed, then it's much faster. It's valid transitional HTML 4.01, and almost valid CSS3 if not for the mozilla css components, which were added for extra spice for gecko brower users. It's clean, and it's pretty professional. Sadly it doesn't view very well at all with internet explorer... and there goes half our visitors now.
Very lightly based off of the
ShaunInman.com
layout. I was almost going to do smaller text since it looks better, but then I tried counting the number of people who'd kill me if I did that again.
